The basic objectives of the conference are to identify some areas of ancient Indian wisdom like philosophical thought, Theatre, Music, Dance, Vastu, Astrology, Aesthetics, Astronomy, Vedic Mathematics, Vedic Physics, Cuisine and Health and their contemporary relevance. The conference is an attempt to explore the extent to which these 'pearls of Indian wisdom' may be able to make a contribution to the development of a modern Indian society without necessarily compromising on the advantages of modern living. Reintroducing the contemporary Indian to the legacy she/he has inherited sometimes requires us to unlearn what modern society teaches us and also to relearn and internalize this legacy in the course of our educational programme. This conference is thus just a step towards working out the feasibility and importance of this approach and its adoption in University level curricula.

Program
Day 1: February 8, 2007:
The first two sessions will delve into ancient Indian philosophical thought.
The third session will deal with Vastushastra and its easy application. It will consist of four papers.
Day 2 : February 9, 2007
Devoted to a discussion of Lifestyle Skills. This session will have 12 papers on Astrology, Vedic Maths / Logic, Aesthetics, Music, Dance, Theatre and Cuisine.
Day 3 : February 10, 2007
The day will be be divided between the academic sessions on Lifestyle / Ayurveda / Wellness and the valedictory function.
