Siddhartha Butalia is an ardent traveller who enjoys backpacking, photography, swimming and SCUBA diving. He is a published author in international journals and business dailies and a seasoned speaker at global seminars on travel, sustainability, and digital ecosystems.
Siddhartha is an active champion of internationalisation, diversity and sustainable development and was recognised as Sustainability CMO of the Year at the Pitch CMO Summit 2022 for his contributions as Chief Marketing Officer at AirAsia India, leading Marketing, PR & Corporate Communications, Digital & eCommerce, Ancillary Revenue, Catering Operations & Sustainability.
One of the first and youngest licensed SCUBA divers in India, Siddhartha has logged over 100 dives in the Maldives, Thailand, India, Oman and Greece and organised marine awareness workshops and SCUBA camps to help protect coral reefs & aquatic ecosystems.
Siddhartha is a TAS Officer and Tata group veteran, having launched and managed iconic brands in Europe and Asia Pacific. After starting his career in advertising with Ogilvy and J Walter Thompson in 2003, his stints with the Tata group included the Tata Nano Project, the internationalisation strategy of Tata Sons, overseeing the premium beverages portfolio at Tetley Great Britain and managing Strategy and Business development for 15 Asia Pacific countries for Tata Consumer Products (then Tata Global Beverages). Siddhartha spent a decade in various roles in London and Mumbai with the Indian Hotels Company, where he launched the Vivanta brand (now a Harvard Business School case study), led Partnerships, managed Marketing & Communications for the UK and served as a member of the Tata Group’s Communications Council in Europe.
With an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, studied Strategic Leadership at the École Supérieure de Commerce, ESC Bretagne, Brest in France, is a post-graduate from the Xavier Institute of Communications and graduated with Honours in Economics from SRCC, Delhi University.
